About GMCT
AT GMCT, we seek to develop, promote and coordinate charitable giving for the good of the Greater Morgantown community. Through our human and financial resources, we are able to extend many forms of assistance to qualified people, programs and projects. GMCT’s underlying goal is always to enhance the quality of life for those we serve.
In addition we are continually gathering information and the expertise to effectively achieve the goals of our charitable donors as they seek to fund their passion.
The community foundation at GMCT:
Leads by example - staying in tune with community groups through fundraising initiatives, local committee participation, and partnerships through agency funds at GMCT,
Strengthens the greater Morgantown area – providing an effective method to retain the wealth and assets of our community locally and help our local citizens to make the most of a variety of charitable giving options,
Builds local resources – fostering business, governmental,and fraternal relationships that bring new opportunities to our local area,
Makes a difference now and tomorrow – managing both cash funds for on-going events and programs as well as permanent funds that produce grant income for qualified agencies, students, and projects to enhance the quality of life for all our residents.
Key Facts about GMCT:
GMCT was established in 2001 by a committee of local leaders to accomplish large community projects and provide a vehicle for individuals and businesses to invest in the future of the greater Morgantown area.
Since then, over 85 individual “investors” have created funds at GMCT which have provided more then $1 million for local arts, individual artists, our library, museum, parks, school and collegiate recreation and sporting activities.
GMCT resources have lead to lasting community improvements including Dorsey’s Knob Park and the new University High School Athletic Complex.
We are governed by a seventeen member board of directors representing business, government, health, education and legal professions.
GMCT currently holds over $5 million in assets, and operates a physical facility at 111 High Street, housing local and state-wide non-profit organizations.
